Where We Work

The AHRA’s activities are focused on the Arab world; our definition derives from self-identification through membership of the League of Arab States. Member states officially identify themselves as Arab, notwithstanding the regional and national diversity of religious, ethnic, and linguistic identities.

For practical purposes, the AHRA divides the Arab world into four distinct geographical regions: the Middle East, the Gulf and Yemen, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa. Country profiles are listed on our website, as well as upcoming events and activities. The AHRA has not adopted an official position regarding the human rights situation in Arab countries, which are often complex and diverse, as defined by states and international organisations. The AHRA is, first and foremost, a platform for debate and dialogue, not a place for political mobilisation.
